Rebecca Godinho (Secretary)
It is my pleasure and privilege to serve the Canadian Law Society as Secretary for a second consecutive year. My duties include keeping minutes at meetings, producing comprehensive summaries, taking notes at any CLS presentations and workshops, proactively attending to any concerns from members and assisting other executives in any capacity needed.
Growing up, I knew I wanted a stimulating yet meaningful career which would involve aiding people in challenging or momentous times in their lives. In addition, I have always been an empathetic person which I eventually realized could be put to good use as a legal professional; since I would need to recognize and cater to my clients’ needs amidst pinpointing the associated legal issues. I thus began the process to apply for law school after attaining my Bachelor of Arts degree.
This summer, in order to gain a different perspective of the law, I worked in the contract management department of a Canadian bank where my main task involved analyzing, collecting and consolidating data from contracts made with customers, vendors and partners. My experiences gave me the confidence and determination to continue into my second year of study and to further develop my commercial awareness skills.
Aside from schoolwork this year, I plan to join the ballroom dancing society, do more reading for fun (the Kindle App is amazing) and continue to hone my culinary abilities by trying diverse recipes!
I am a friendly and enthusiastic individual who loves to work with others and as such, I will always be available and open to any input.
